The Sanford Health Fargo Marathon holds the safety of our staff, participants, volunteers, and attendees above all else. To ensure our event is as safe as possible, and you are comfortable both on and off the course, we’ll be implementing enhanced safety measures, and will provide a comprehensive list of measures to reference well in advance of event day. Our team continues to work in direct coordination with local public health authorities to meet or exceed all local guidance, rules, and regulations. In the event that we cancel the live event, each registrant will have the option of receiving a refund, deferring fees paid to the next year’s race, or applying the fees to entry into a virtual race, where we’ll mail your goodie bag right to your door.
Yes, this course is USATF-certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier.

The Fargo Marathon faces both logistical and materials constraints, necessitating the existence of a capacity limit on these events. We have a cap of 2,000 on the full marathon, 6,500 on the half marathon, and 5,000 for the 10K.  The 5K and Youth Runs do not have caps on them.  The caps exist to ensure that all participants receive a safe and enjoyable experience along with the perks promised to them.

No! Fargo is flat, fast, & friendly!

You may wear your headphones, iPods, or MP3 players. However we ask that you keep the volume at a reasonable level for your own safety and out of courtesy for fellow participants. You should still be able to hear participants and volunteers in proximity to you. Be courteous of others!

Unfortunately, we do not give refunds*. However, tickets can be transferred to another runner before online registration closes. Information on how to transfer your ticket can be found on this page under "How can I transfer my registration to another person?"

*Refunds will be offered if the race is cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Please see "What steps are you taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of participants?" for more details.

Yes, you can change distances online before registration closes. To do so, simply log into your account, here (you may need to reset your password first). Once you’re logged in, you’ll see your upcoming race on the right-hand side of the screen. Click “View registration.” You’ll see your current race distance under “Category.” Just click “Edit,” choose the distance you’d like to switch to. You’ll be prompted to review the rest of your registration, and re-sign the waiver for the new distance. If you’re upgrading from a distance, you’ll be required to pay the difference in price; however we don’t offer refunds for the difference in price when switching to a shorter distance.

Walkers are welcome in all events, but they will need to abide by course closure times.
