FARGO MARATHON 5K: Help Us Put A New Pair of Running Shoes on Children In Our Community

Let's take one huge step forward for our community. This spring Fargo Marathon, Dakota Medical Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and NIKE have partnered together to produce a matching funds program with the goal of raising enough money to purchase a new pair of running shoes for 1000 underprivileged children in the Red River Valley. Your 5K registration will make a difference. 1 Race, 3.1 miles, 10,000 people, 1000 pairs of shoes.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Fargo 5K Run/Walk will be held on Friday evening of the Fargo Marathon race week. For more information, regarding start time and location, visit the race week's Schedule of Events.

  • All packets must be picked up by 5:30 pm on race day.
  • All runners/walkers should be out to the starting line by 6:00 pm for announcements and race line-ups.
  • Runners will line up on University Drive.
  • Walkers will line up on 17th Avenue North.
  • After the starting gun, runners will take off through the starting line. As the last runners cross the starting line, the walkers will then take off from 17th Avenue North and cross their own Starting Line. Strollers should be lined up with the walkers.
  • Please arrive EARLY to the FARGODOME. In previous years, roads leading in to the FARGODOME have been congested, so it is best to arrive at the FARGODOME by 5:00 pm to ensure that you
have ample time to park and get ready for your race.
  • If you are coming to the FARGODOME via Interstate 29, please consider taking the 12th Avenue North exit versus the 19th Avenue North exit as it should help you get to the FARGODOME sooner.
  • All runners/walkers will be wearing ChampionChip chips in their shoe for timing purposes.
  • Due to the large number of 5K participants (10,000+ people), the aid station for this run will be located at the finish line only.
